Latest Updates from Our Project:

My Thoughts Going into the Final Week!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 22, 2017 at 10:11:17 AM

So as we all move to the final week of the Kickstarter campaign, I just want to thank everyone for the support! Doing as much research and gathering of information as I have over the past few years with all these books hasn't been easy, however the outpouring support from everyone has definitely kept me going! I know there aren't a ton of comments, but a lot of people get in touch with me personally and I definitely appreciate it.

NES Oddities Update

I've been making progress and the entire NES Oddities book is almost completely laid out now! Throughout this campaign, I've been building up the Homebrew section, which I have been writing along side formatting the pages; using summaries from the developers when possible. The final big piece of the book is that I still have about 400 Famicom reviews to write up still, which is no small task, however this is why in the Collector's books they are minimalist in nature!

The Way Forward

Then, after the NES Oddities is edited and completed, which everyone knows I shoot to get my books done early, I'll be focusing 100% on the NES Compendium and getting personal stories from all the contributors. I am shooting for the early summer, but that will all be on the contributors. I am shooting for 250 pages again for the Compendium, which means there will be a lot of amazing stories to read, including interviews with game developers and a lot of articles on obscure aspects of the NES that people enjoy!

Considering the seemingly niche scope of the NES Oddities book, I didn't know what to expect from a funding aspect; which is why I always just shoot for a goal of doing a physical print run and we go from there! The amount of support that this project has gotten so far  has really opened my eyes and I really appreciate all the support from everyone! It definitely keeps me motivated and as always I have tons of ideas going forward in the future!

I'll do the next update when we smash the 20K stretch goal!

Campaign Modification and Podcast!
about 7 years ago – Thu, Feb 16, 2017 at 08:24:40 AM

Hey everyone!

I did a couple of changes to the campaign, basically removing a couple of tiers with the leather covers that nobody has shown interest in to clean things up a bit. If people still want those let me know, however the plan is to add it to the BackerKit later.

The extravagant 1000 page Leather Bound Tome is still there and keep in mind that those are only going to be for the "System Based Books" I'm doing. So the SNES Tome is already in production at the bindery, and this will be the NES version.

Yes, the Tome has the original Joe Simko Artwork to boot!

I also recently did an interview with Jeff "fuzzy" Wenzel of the Successfully Funded podcast. We had a great conversation. We talked about where our project idea came from, and how I got involved, and about what the future looks like after the campaign.

Social Media Stretch Goal Close!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 15, 2017 at 07:03:39 AM

We are really close to getting the first Social Media Stretch Goal and when I checked we were about 40 away total! Remember that all you have to do is like the Hagen's Alley Facebook Page itself, Follow @gamingVGBS on twitter and Follow thesubcon3 on Instagram. It's that easy and you can do all three! (FYI: The actual pages and not the individual posts) Here are the links to make things easier!

Like the Hagen's Alley Books page on Facebook

Follow @gamingVGBS on Twitter

Follow thesubcon3 on Instagram

I've also refined the social media goals a bit to offer more free items at each level. As with all of my goals, I try to make it all free stuff to people supporting my projects.

Finally, if everyone could take a few seconds and share this project with a friend, it would help me out tremendously! The hardest part doing a Kickstarter is making sure everyone knows it exists and no matter how much I post it, it won't even reach a fraction of the people out there. Please take the couple of second and help out...

A lot of people have been contacting me about getting their NES story in the book and those of you who have supported are the reason why it is able to happen. Thank you!

Zelda Console Limit Increased to 7, Mega Man Console Limited Decreased to 3
about 7 years ago – Fri, Feb 10, 2017 at 02:18:36 PM

Just a quick update...

As per the wishes of CK_Signs, I have increased the limit on the Zelda consoles to 7 and decreased the Mega Man consoles to 3. This was due to multiple people asking if they could get the Zelda consoles and keeping to that CK_Signs is only doing 10 consoles total.  That means that there are now only 2 consoles of each variant left!

Get 'em Gary has Arrived!
about 7 years ago – Thu, Feb 09, 2017 at 04:55:41 PM

The final game for the Best of NES Homebrew Box Set, Get 'em Gary by Second Dimension has arrived! Gary is a single screen arcade game that is Second Dimension's take on Fix it Felix. The controls are extremely smooth and the music by Rob Bryant (of Sly Dog Studios) is bass-filled goodness that gets your blood pumping!

It's now time to put the game in its rightful place in the box set...
