NES Oddities Shipping and Compendium Progress Update
over 6 years ago – Mon, Jul 03, 2017 at 03:18:06 PM

I've been busy over here with the madness that is getting these books done. Here is a status update:

NES Oddities & the Homebrew Revolution

The books are completely printed and clearing customs currently. Talking with the printing company last Friday, they are estimating that I have the books in hand by the end of the month. While this has been taking a bit longer than expected, I showed off the advanced copy they sent me last month on a Facebook live stream and they look amazing! You can follow along at facebook.com/hagensalley

These books are extremely solid, just like my previous ones, however I have added in extra upgrades and bonuses as a small thank you for your support. Once the books get here, I'll ship out single book backers and those that paid to get the book earlier. That being said, what about the Compendium?

The Nintendo Entertainment System Compendium

The NES Compendium is now finished and being submitted for proofs this week! That being said, if you want to get a proof copy let me know so I can gauge how many to order, the cost is the same $40 plus shipping as the original but it is paperback and hasn't been edited. That being said, if all goes well at the current shipping speed, I should have the Compendiums in hand for fulfillment in mid-September.

Final Thoughts

The shipping has been taking a little longer, but the bar has been raised. Also, keep in mind that VGBS is entering it's final few days, so if you haven't check it out please do! www.tinyurl.com/vgbs1.

That's all for today and thanks for your continued support!

NES Oddities Editing Done and Printing in Process!
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 17, 2017 at 11:52:12 AM

Last weekend I finished the manually editing of the NES Oddities & the Homebrew Revolution book and now have implemented all those changes/submitted to get printed!

The process will take a month or so until I get all of the books in hand to ship out to everyone (NES Oddities and Early Shipping Backers to start), however during that time frame I will be finishing up the NES Compendium book so that one is done by June/July and ready to start the 1-2 month manual editing/printing process. That being said...

I have individually e-mailed each contributor to the Compendium so try to get those personal stories to me as soon as you can. The quicker I get them all, the faster I can get the book publishing process started. The due date for story submissions will be June 15th, which this is the first time I have posted that. So please get your stories in by then or sooner.

Thanks!

NES Oddities & the Homebrew Revolution Proof Opportunity
almost 7 years ago – Sat, Apr 29, 2017 at 04:26:23 PM

The Book is done and getting submitted for the proofing on Monday!

For the first time with a book release, the proofs are going to have a variant cover from the regular release. I am using a rough Black & White cover from Philo Barnhart for the proof copies and, to my knowledge, they are going to be paperback.

Keep in mind that with these proofs that I use my copy for the editing and for checking the image quality. That means that there won't be many of these created as I'm just doing these based on the demand. So if you are interested in getting a copy, shoot me an e-mail or a message ASAP!

Hitting the Home Stretch on the NES Oddities!
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Apr 21, 2017 at 09:54:09 PM

I have a bunch of Famicom Reviews left to write then it's time to get the proofs. You know what that means... time to show off the cover!

As always I like to be transparent about the process. So once I finish the writing, I will order proofs to do some major editing. For the first time, I'll be doing a variant cover for the proofs, which will also be paperback this time around. If you are interested in getting one, let me know! Here is the proof cover.

Cover only on the Proof!

After I finish the editing and make the changes, I'll then do the print order. The printing will likely take awhile, as it has in the past. While that I going on, I will be working on the NES Compendium so make sure you all finish up your stories!

Let me know what you think of the everything and I'll update again when I get the proofs in hand! Thanks everyone for the support!

NES Oddities Progress Update and Big News!
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Apr 14, 2017 at 10:57:08 PM

I have been continually working at finishing up sections of the NES Oddities and putting the finishing touches. Just today I finished writing the entire PlayChoice 10 section and yesterday I played through all the International Unlicensed games a second time to refine some reviews and get all the players. (Yes I play each game in all my books multiple times, which I know is insane!)

So basically what I have left is the Famicom section, which is a hefty 400 games however I've been working on it, a little bit of the Accessories and then refining the players in all the Homebrew games. Then I'm done with all 500 pages!

New here is where I have the exciting Big News:

I've begun talks with a book company that says that they can allow me to print on the inside of the covers, upgrade the binding, offer glossy pages and a bookmark ribbon for each book. This will not only be the exact same size as all my other releases, but will also be no extra cost to backers!

Let me know if you have any questions and be sure to tell your friends about the project so we can make it bigger as people can still preorder and even write a story in the Compendium as I"m getting to that once the NES Oddities is completely finished.
