Latest Updates from Our Project:

BackerKit Surveys are Out.... Limited Items.... Plus a Progress Update....
about 7 years ago – Mon, Mar 20, 2017 at 10:42:18 AM

This morning I sent out the BackerKit Surveys. This will allow me to get a good count on everything and allow you the opportunity to add on any extras you might want to your pledge. There is some awesome glasswork from Moto's Glass, who is also doing the NES Box Set, so be sure to support his work! Here is the link, just in case you don't get the e-mail.

https://oddnes.backerkit.com

Also, if you are interested in getting one of the limited items, let me know here by sending me a message, or by shooting me an e-mail. I have a few extra slots left for the Custom Consoles, Controllers and NES Homebrew Box Sets. In the end I'm only producing the amount that are backed, so I won't have any extras down the line. If you are interested let me know!

As for a progress update, I'm now officially at 500 pages formatted in the NES Oddities book! I added the Accessories section over the weekend, which was the last section to add to the book. Now all that's left is writing a ton of reviews, which shouldn't take me too long, and then doing the physical editing. I did a live stream over the weekend on youtube.com/thesubcon3 where I showed a quick video on how I was creating the Accessories section. If you like stuff like that, let me know as feedback is the key!

Thanks for your continued support!

Progress Update and BackerKit
about 7 years ago – Tue, Mar 14, 2017 at 11:02:58 PM

Hey everyone!

I've been making some progress on the NES Oddities book and just finished up the homebrew layouts 100%. I have a couple hundred more reviews to write and I'll begin putting the finishing touches on things. I'm also still planning on adding the Accessories section as a bonus, since there is some room, and some PAL/Famicom/Homebrew NES advertisements; as those were a huge hit with the SNES books. My goal is to finish it up by the end of the month and begin editing in April, if all goes according to plan!

Also, in the next week or so I'll be shooting out the BackerKit surveys to everyone. I like to send them out early so I can begin to contact everyone contributing stories to the Nintendo Compendium, and allow people to upgrade their pledges if they want to. However, if you are planning to get extra items, etc, when going through BackerKit, you absolutely can and won't have to pay until the end of April! Once the editing is nearing completion I will do the final tally of backers, including those who bought a book after Kickstarter, and then I will make the first book order!

Let me know if you have any questions on anything!

Under 24 Hours and next Stretch Goal smashed!
about 7 years ago – Thu, Mar 02, 2017 at 09:16:59 PM

Wow! We knocked out the next stretch goal and that means not only does everyone get a free bookmark, but because of the Social Media Upgrade, it'll be double sided!

So the next Stretch Goal, I'll put up to a vote as a lot of people are really partial to the NES Compendium Cover that is in place. So what I can do is open it up to the community for submissions, on both covers, and perhaps for the first time go with a back cover as well! Any and all art that is submitted will make it into the book too so it'll be a great time!  Let me know in the comments if that would be a cool substitute for the 25K stretch goal.

Thanks everyone for the amazing support and these projects are only a reality because of it! It is a humbling experience and I'll definitely be pushing to get these books completed and out to everyone well before the date, while adding in a few unannounced bonuses to boot!

Couple of Notes with the Project
about 7 years ago – Mon, Feb 27, 2017 at 11:19:25 PM

As we finish up the Campaign I wanted to shoot out a few notes with the pledges:

Keep in mind, if you want the 2nd 250 page Compendium, on top of your 500 page Oddities book, make sure you get the double book tier! I know I had a bunch of people upgrade at the last minute with my last campaign because they weren't aware of this.

Floating in the air!

The custom consoles are limited and however many backers there are is how many will be produced as CK Signs does them by demand. This is the same for the CK Signs custom controllers. He is only doing these designs for the campaign and they will be numbered.

CK Signs will be doing his custom designs by a vote this time around!

The Best of NES Homebrew Box Set is going to work the exact same way as the other limited items, if all 10 are not sold out, there will only be the amount produced as there are backers. The funds from backers are used to pay for the items and there isn't any extras budgeted in to the price for slacker backers unfortunately.

There are unique aspects to this set, and a possible mystery game going in for free!

Overall, this campaign has been another HUGE success! I see the NES Oddities as the book for the obsessive NES fan and the fact that so many people are supporting it is amazing! Thank you so much for your continued support and I'm working to get both books done as efficiently as possible! (Yes, I've been working on the NES Oddities during the campaign!)

Make sure you share the campaign with anyone you know that's into retro gaming as I try to make these books for everyone! These are for us, the gamers!

First Social Media Stretch Goal Unlocked!
about 7 years ago – Sun, Feb 26, 2017 at 07:15:24 AM

As we head into the final few days of the campaign we just unlocked the first social media stretch goal and we are actually pretty close to the second! Here is what the Social Media Stretch Goal unlocked for all backers:

- Free NES Homebrew MP3 from Sergio Elisondo, which he will also eventually turn into a video!

- It is listed as the Free Bookmark will be double-sided, which ironically we are still just short of that stretch goal. I'm sure we will get past it as a lot of people always wait until the end to support the books!

One Example of a Bookmark

Thanks for the support and please take a second and share the project with people who might not know about the books. It really does help me out.
